Create ways for teens to have their voices heard on issues that matter to them

When it comes to American politics, students often feel they are inadequate and undeserving of attention.

Many are biased by archaic negative thinking, often passed down from adults, that the government is irreparably broken and unfair.

Helmed by The LAMP and CIRCLE, the 22×20 campaign aims to activate and facilitate youth voice and leadership in the democratic process.  Supporting the 22×20 campaign supports a boost in youth voice and engagement in our democracy.

Understanding the blend of history, policy suggestions, and rhetorical performance inherent to the political landscape can be tricky for young people. To combat political disengagement among youth and misinformation in the media, we host a variety of events—called action parties—in major metropolitan areas like New York City, Austin, Chicago, and San Francisco.

Recent programs featured:

  • Our “States of Youth” event in Washington, DC was co-hosted with DoSomething.org, the Smithsonian, and OZY. Nationwide, teens shared their observations on social media.
  • In New York, teens remixed the State of the Union with innovative digital media tools at Sony’s TechLab.
